Seminars and Training Courses





Launching the specialized training course “The Integrated Guide for Speech Therapists: From Assessment to Qualification” under the patronage of Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdy, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mona Abu Hashima, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Environmental Affairs and Community Service, and under the supervision of Dr. Marwa Saeed Awais, with the aim of qualifying specialized personnel and developing professional skills in the field of speech therapy.

The first training sessions of the specialized course "The Comprehensive Guide for Speech Therapists: From Assessment to Qualification" were held on February 26 and 27, 2026, under the auspices of Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdy, and the supervision of Professor Dr. Mona Abu Hashima and Dr. Marwa Saeed Awais. The training was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Fatima Al-Zahraa Abdel-Basset Abdel-Wahed, with the aim of developing professional and practical competencies in the field of speech therapy.




A seminar entitled “Common Mistakes in Scientific Research” was held on February 28, 2026, presented by Professor Dr. Salwa Abdel Baqi, with the aim of promoting scientific research skills and spreading sound research practices among researchers.

Developing and launching psychological awareness content titled "Worship and Psychological Tranquility" as part of the "Glimpses of Mental Health in Ramadan" series, under the supervision of Dr. Sarah Assem Riyadh, Acting Head of the Department of Mental Health, with the aim of disseminating psychological awareness and promoting psychological well-being among members of the community



Conducting a workshop titled "Body Language Skills" in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Unit at the College of Education, presented by Dr. Sarah Assem, Acting Head of the Department of Mental Health. The workshop targeted college students with the goal of developing their effective communication skills and understanding nonverbal messages in educational and professional situations. It was held on March 14, 2026, via Microsoft Teams.

A scientific seminar entitled “Managing Negotiation with Children”, presented by Professor Dr. Suhair Amin, Professor of Mental Health, under the auspices of Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdi, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Capital University, and supervised by Professor Dr. Sarah Assem Riad, Head of the Department of Mental Health, on March 30, 2026. The seminar addressed the foundations of positive negotiation with children and the most important educational and psychological strategies that contribute to enhancing effective communication within the family and supporting healthy family relationships.




A presentation of a psychological awareness novel entitled “Her Shadows Do Not Resemble Her” by the writer Hajar Ahmed, which highlighted the psychological and academic challenges facing university youth, and the importance of self-awareness and confronting psychological pressures in a positive way, which contributes to spreading psychological culture and enhancing community awareness of mental health.

A workshop entitled “Dealing with Risks and Crises and Predicting Skills,” presented by Prof. Dr. Siham Ali Sharif, under the auspices of Prof. Dr. Hossam Hamdi, Dean of the College, and Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Zuhairi, Director of the Quality Assurance Unit, targeted academic and administrative leaders, with the aim of developing crisis management skills, dealing with risks, and enhancing the ability to predict them, on April 27, 2026.

The Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit at the Faculty of Education, Capital University, published an awareness-raising article on the psychological and educational services it provides to students and community members. These services include psychological counseling sessions, psychological and educational consultations, support programs for people with disabilities and their families, and workshops for developing personal skills and self-improvement. The article aimed to promote awareness of the importance of mental and educational well-being and encourage the use of specialized support and counseling services. The article was published on April 7, 2026. The Department of Mental Health held its scientific conference, titled

"Digital Psychological Competence of Student Teachers

 




A Safe Bridge Between Curriculum Automation and Readiness for the Digital Job Market," on April 29, 2026. The conference was attended by Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdy, Dean of the Faculty, the Vice Deans, and a number of faculty members and researchers.

The conference included a seminar entitled “Digital Psychological Balance in the Face of Automation Anxiety” presented by Dr. Amr Abdel-Razek, and a workshop entitled “Managing Psychological Stress in the Digital Age” presented by Dr. Hanan Mohamed Kamel, in addition to the participation of Dr. Marwa Saeed Awais and Dr. Fatima Al-Masri in the scientific activities of the conference, which contributed to enriching the academic discussion and opening new research horizons in the field of digital mental health.

The Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit

affiliated with the Center for Psychological Counseling and Special Needs Care, was inaugurated on May 6, 2026, under the supervision of the Department of Mental Health and the patronage of Professor Dr. Hossam Hamdy, Dean of the Faculty of Education. The event was attended by Professor Dr. Mona Abu Hashima, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development; Professor Dr. Salwa Abdel-Baqi; Dr. Sarah Assem, Acting Head of the Department of Mental Health; Dr. Marwa Saeed Awais; Dr. Hanan Mohamed Kamel, Deputy Director of the Center; as well as faculty members and teaching assistants from the department. The unit's opening comes within the framework of supporting psychological and educational counseling services and enhancing the Faculty's role in serving the community and promoting mental health.

Participating in teaching undergraduate courses and subjects, including the Mental Health and Psychological Counseling course for fourth-year students, the Developmental Psychology course for first-year students, and the Psychology of Individuals with Special Needs course for third-year students. Additionally, there are other courses, including the Talent Development and Excellence course for second-year psychology students and the Early Intervention Strategies course for third-year special education students (Arabic and English).

The department also teaches at the postgraduate level, from the general diploma to the doctoral degree, through the programs offered by the department, which include the Professional Diploma in Education, the Professional Diploma in Psychological Counseling, the Special Diploma in Mental Health, and the Doctorate in Mental Health.

Regarding the assistant faculty members, each member is responsible for assisting a faculty member in tasks such as attendance and absence tracking, coursework evaluation, as well as gaining practical experience in teaching and student interaction. Additionally, they participate in teaching certain practical applications related to undergraduate courses.

Regarding the assistant faculty members, their role is limited to receiving the name lists from the College’s Education and Student Affairs Office, ensuring that all required documents are complete without any missing paperwork, and organizing the students' entry for personal interviews.
